W elcome to my newly designed blog-site. Some of you may be new to this, so I will briefly explain... this is a website that is also a blog and vice versa. My old site had not been updated in almost two years, and thus, my blog was truly the best representation of my work. So... the two shall become one! If you are new to me, feel free to click on the buttons above for sample galleries of some of my favorite work. Then, check out my most recent work by clicking through the most relevant category for what you are searching. For everyone else, enjoy the joined functionality... Happy viewing!

I n my last blog post, I mentioned how it started raining in the middle of a shoot. Well, Livvie was the (un)lucky second shoot scheduled for the day, and though I desperately went to call her in the middle of my first shoot to see if I caught her BEFORE she drove an hour to meet me in Lake Placid, I failed. She was already in town... in the POURING rain. Boo!! So, we rescheduled for a few days later in the morning. And, it was the total opposite of rainy. It was about as sunny as it gets... so sunny, we probably should've started the shoot three hours earlier. (just kidding- none of us would've liked that!) But, Livvie worked it, and her mom helped with the scrim and the reflector, and she is pretty much a trained pro now. ;-) Thanks for making the trek not once, but TWICE! Bonus points for dedication there. Happy viewing, friends! |

her eyes are so beautiful, they almost don't seem real.

okay... couldn't decide... pop of complimentary colors???

love love love. so beautiful!

okay, well, Livvie (understandably so) couldn't handle the reflector at times, so I just made her laugh as best I could in spots I knew we had to use!

really? are you sure you are a senior and not 22? wow.

major cheese, and i love it. thanks again!

S o, Mandy's session started with overcast skies, met up with a downpour and then ended with heavy drizzle. Needless to say, we were faced with the option to either end it and postpone the second half for a later date (which supply in Lake Placid is limited- NOT to mention asking her to spend another 2 hours in the car to get back there was a bit much) OR... we take it inside. Unfortunately, there aren't tons of locations in Lake Placid that warmly allow photography indoors, so our options were limited. But, we made it work, and honestly, the indoor ones might be my favorite ones of all (lots of natural light helps!). Mandy was a great sport through it all, and I honestly had so much fun with her and her mom. So, without further ado, happy viewing, friends!!
down at the beach on Mirror Lake in Lake Placid (not confusing at all) |

I generally ask people what their favorite color/s is/are before their shoot so that I can TRY to find that color somewhere for them... Mandy listed every color... well, maybe she left out orange? or green? i don't know... but she listed at least 6. anyway... here is a red door for you!

even in the rain, she laughs!

inside... regal, i think.

oh wait, kinda like the laughing shot, too.

and a few outside again (in the drizzle- she is standing on wet and slick rocks, as am I, in this one!).

stunning! Thanks so much for being flexible, Mandy!

O h, Adirondacks... how I have missed you so! This week has been INSANE!!! And, I think that is kind of putting it lightly. The weather has been all over the place (but mostly chilly and wet), which makes planning outdoor sessions that much more fun, but I survived... and not only survived. I loved it! (well, not the rescheduling part) The Adirondacks are full of people I just love to work for, and the Blacksmith family (though new clients) are not an exception. I knew it would be a wild shoot with 4 under the age of 6 (the youngest 2 being 14 mo old twins), and for that reason, I was pumped. I love kids. I love that I get to work and play with kids in my job. And, these kids are just beautiful! I couldn't get over it, really. It was a blast, and I hope you all have fun watching the preview... Happy viewing, friends!

how beautiful is baby Anabelle? seriously.

And, then, there is big sis Isabella. I love her.

I think they liked me... or was it just the scooters? ;-)

babies that don't love being thrown in the air worry me. i think they are supposed to love it, right? ;-) Well, he clearly does!

sweet girl with PAINTED fingernails! brave mom for trying that one!

see what I mean? how can you not love Isabella?!

they are such happy kids. you MUST be doing something right!

love this one... a lot. Dad and Lazarus watching the clouds and finding shapes.

and, of course, how it all began... ;-)

Thanks so much, guys! I had such a great time, and I hope to keep up with you in the future!

Bethany & Jason - Engaged! |

B ethany & Jason are getting married THIS October 30 in Sylvania, Ohio (near Toledo), and I get the distinct honor of being flown in from Philadelphia to photograph it... as if having them drive 12 hours each way to have their engagement session in Lake Placid (one of their favorite places) wasn't enough of an honor! :-) I first met Bethany five years ago (almost exactly) at our dear friends' wedding. She was a bridesmaid, and Chris was the best man (of course, she and Chris go back before I was even a name on Chris' lips). Anyway, I couldn't be more excited about their upcoming wedding. As an art teacher, I know Bethany has excellent taste and a great eye for design. I am sure that is will be stunning. But, for now... the engagement portraits! Happy viewing, friends! |

two words Jason loves to hear "Ubu Ale"

it has been raining for almost 36 hours straight. we lucked out!

i love couples that can make each other laugh.

so, we got a lil hungry and stopped for a sandwich (no we didn't, but would've been a good story, right?)

Bethany spotted this door... she said she loved it. I guess so; her shirt matches it PERFECTLY!

they wanted a few even more casual pics in a more natural setting, so we went from downtown to John Brown Farm. Love how crystal clear the pond is.

Bethany, you are going to be a beautiful bride!

Thanks again for driving all this way, and then... TREATING me to dinner! You guys are great!
